Leaders in my life

What I learned from Mr Atanu Dasgupta at Power Grid – Part 7

Continuing on my experiences with Mr. Dasgupta, in today’s blog, I will cover a related topic about being a good leader. Let us take a look at the next lesson.

Develop a Hobby, Have a life outside of Work

Ever heard of HAM Radio? Amateur Radio (ham radio) is a popular hobby and service that brings people, electronics and communication together. People use ham radio to talk across town, around the world, or even into space, all without the Internet or cell phones. It’s fun, social, educational, and can be a lifeline in times of need.

Mr. Dasgupta was and is still very passionate about this hobby. In fact, his first personal email ID on Hotmail was based on his call sign! See the latest post from Facebook, he is still very passionate about it.

Hobbies do take the edge away from the work pressure, work politics, and other burning issues. They help you to recharge, to “fill your cup”. As a leader, you are required to give a lot, motivation, encouragement, and I believe, no one can give unless “one’s own cup is full”.

A leader’s hobby and passion give him/her light moments and capability to care for others. I encourage you all to “Develop a Hobby” and help your team members to build one too!

Stay tuned for more next week!
