Leaders in my life

What I learned from Mr. Asit Som at Powergrid – Part 2

Continuing from last week, today I will share another lesson that I learned from Mr. Asit Som.

Always Smile and Stay Calm in Crisis

No business is without its challenges and there will be crisis situations that you will face. Many times, you find that the leaders in their effort to respond quickly and effectively become angry at every small delay or mistakes and instead of guiding their teams, they shout and push them, in short blaming them for the problems.

But this was not how I saw Mr. Asit Som handle crisis situations. He was one who could keep a balanced head. He would always have that smile that will brighten a day. He would calmly attack the problem, break it down into chunks and divide the responsibilities into the team to make each task doable. He would take time to explain what is required very clearly, as multiple pieces would have to come together at the last to make the whole thing work.

The confidence he had on himself and his team was contagious and also the belief that we will do our best. I hope all leaders have the ability to absorb pressure and stay calm in crisis. And if they can smile during such times it is a bonus.

Stay tuned for more next week.
