Network Transformation

A Transformation that does not save $$ is a Lie!

Continuing from last week, today will also be a simple message about the effectiveness of the network transformations. Please have a look at the following bullets.

  • Transformations must result into cost savings: The cost savings may in the form of Capital Expenditure (Capex) or Operational Expenditure (Opex) or a combination of the two.
  • Transformations must realize the cost benefit within a stipulated time-frame: There are scenarios when the day 1 cost of the transformation is higher than the incremental costs of the existing solution, and this an acceptable phenomenon because there is a cost of establishing a new infrastructure. However, over a “specified period” as the network grows to add more capacity or services, the new network must demonstrate lower cost per unit.

If a transformation project cannot prove itself on these two points, one must reconsider proceeding ahead.

Stay tuned for more next week.
