Special vs Custom vs Standard? Choosing the Building Blocks-5

Continuing from last week, let us continue to discuss the example of a bad network split.

We saw that Government does the worst network splits and create so many limitations in terms of future network expansions and create a lot of dependencies on system integrator, vendors and products. Even to the extent that they want the system integrator to continue to support the network for many years, typically 5+ years. They live with many problems but what could be the motivation behind it?

The reasons for such behavior are really simple and straight forward. I will invite you to read my blog from August last year.

Disaggregation – The Telecom Operator is the key Roadblock

This blog highlights what it takes to make the network splits work for the operator and helps you to know if the operator is not ready. The vendors will take the operator for a “Ride”. The Government is almost never ready, they do not have skilled people and they not invest in R&D and their planning teams and operations teams do not understand the technologies to the level of detail required and are usually not ready to learn new things. So the biggest problem for them is People Readiness. Stay tuned for more next week.
