Alibaba – Queens of Disaggregation

Continuing from last week, let us continue to examine the case for some special guys. Today I am picking up the case for B2B, Wholesale market.

I am sure you have heard of Alibaba. If you do a google search on them, you will find the following text:

“Verified Supplier. Matching Service. Join Free & Get Live Quotes Easily! 100% Refund. Trade Assurance. Quality Assured. Verified Global Suppliers. Types: Clothing, Phones and Accessories, Computers, Consumer Electronics, Jewelry and Watches, Furniture, Bags, and Shoes.”
They have created a space for themselves in the niche and have a great valuation now. They are counted among the largest Webscale players. They started just as a “Wholesale Mall” in the Internet shopping City. They still advertise at Google, the gate no. 1. But all the wholesale suppliers registered with Alibaba do not need to advertise on Google. They know that Alibaba will get the tight crowd there space and all they need to do is be seen at Alibaba.
But Alibaba is more dependent on just the other gates such as Google or the Chinese equivalent search engine. They have built their own name and now many people know how to reach directly to Alibaba. They are no longer just a B2B transaction platform, please refer to the graph below and next week I will elaborate a bit more on the ecosystem that they have been developing.
Stay tuned to know more about this specialty gate to the Internet.
